The Fall

The Fall

The Fall is a five-week Epiphany series exploring Genesis 3 and the devastating ripple effects of sin. When Adam and Eve rebelled, the immediate consequence was separation—from one another, from God, from their God-given purpose, and even from their own bodies as death enters the world. Though sin divides and distorts every part of life, God still comes searching, promising reconciliation and pointing us toward the One who will crush the serpent’s head. This series will show us why we need a Savior and how to apply the reconciling work of Christ in our lives and relationships.

The Beginning

This Advent, we return to the very first words of Scripture: “In the beginning, God created…” From the first light to the Sabbath rest, each day of creation points us forward to Christ, the true Light, Life, and Rest for the world. As we light the candles of hope, peace, joy, and love, we’ll see how the God who spoke creation into being now speaks new creation into our hearts through Jesus. And on Christmas, we’ll celebrate the “eighth day”—a new beginning—when the Light of the world is born, and God makes all things new.

The End

When we hear the words “the end,” we often think of fear, loss, or uncertainty. But for those who belong to Jesus, the end is not something to dread, it’s the fulfillment of God’s promises. "The End" is a four-week series for the last Sundays of the Church year. We’ll explore what Scripture really says about death, evil, time, and the world’s final chapter through the Book of Revelation. Together we’ll discover that the end isn’t about despair, but about hope: the end of death is life with Jesus, the end of evil is Christ’s victory, the end of time is His perfect reign, and the end of the world is the beginning of all things made new.

Money Matters

Money Matters

We go to schools to become equipped to earn it. Then we spend the rest of our lives getting it. We get caught up worrying that we won’t have enough of it because we're constantly spending it. We dream and scheme to figure out ways to acquire more of it. Arguments over it are the leading cause of marital disintegration, business partner breakups and government shutdowns. The obsession with getting more of it destroys many lives. Some call it the root of all evil. Others call it the means for great good. But we cannot afford to ignore the reality or the importance of money. Neither does St. Paul. The apostle’s most thorough teaching about money is in 2 Corinthians 8 and 9. It is fitting that our fall stewardship emphasis be based upon these two chapters. We're calling this series, “Money Matters” and our prayer is that we learn to manage our money matters according to God's ways and not the world's.

Who’s Next

We will be asking the question "Who's Next" for the next four weeks as we wonder about our lives, the lives of those around us, and what's next for all of us. Who's next for us to disciple, to serve, to share the good news of Jesus with? Maybe God is calling out to us in this season of life to step up, or take a step in. Or, maybe he's calling out to us to raise up someone else.

The Book of Acts

Ongoing: The Unstoppable Power of the Gospel in Acts

During the season of Lent, we read through the Gospel of Luke, witnessing the life + ministry of Jesus. But the Gospels don't contain the end of the story! The story continues (and the story of the Christian church begins!) in Luke's second book: Acts

Acts tells the true, historical story of the earliest days of the Christian Church. It’s the continuation of Jesus’ story, now lived out through His disciples, empowered by the Holy Spirit. And that story didn’t end with the apostles. The unstoppable power of the Gospel is still ongoing today. The same Holy Spirit empowers us to be everyday missionaries, wherever we go and whoever we’re with.

At Saints Peter & Paul we will be walking through the book of Acts throughout the summer of 2025. See below for the series breakdown.

We look forward to participating with you in the ongoing "acts" of the Holy Spirit today!

Gifted For Good

God has uniquely gifted you with specific gifts. Some might call them talents, others might call them passions or abilities. In Paul's first letter to the Corinthians they're called Spiritual Gifts. How have you been uniquely gifted? But, even more than that, the question becomes "Why has God given me these gifts?"

In this sermon series we're going to be exploring Spiritual Gifts - what they are and what they aren't. What is most important is that God has given you these gifts for good - not your own, but for the good of your neighbor.

The Movements of Scripture

The Movement of Scripture

The Bible can be confusing! It’s not just one book, but it's a literary masterpiece that was compiled over thousands of years, by many authors, in multiple languages, from different cultures than our own. No wonder it can be a challenge to understand! Yet, through it, God is telling a story that you and I are wrapped up in. A story that even continues today.

In this sermon series, we’re going to help frame this story as we look at “The Movements of Scripture.” Where does this story begin? What drives it forward? Where is it all heading? Join us as we unpack these questions, see our place within these movements, and discover how God is still “moving” today!

Peace

Peace

If there’s something lacking in the lives of people these days, it’s probably peace. Peace seems to be this illusive experience that everyone desires, but no one knows how to create. It could be because we’re trying to do it all on our own. Jesus says, “In me, you may have peace” (John 16:33). So, that’s all we have to do, is look to Jesus, and we’ll have peace? Perhaps it really is that simple.

In this four week, fall kick-off, we will be praying for peace in our finances, our schedules, our relationships, and yes, even in politics.

What is Love?

What Is Love?

What is love? From time immemorial, poets have pondered this question. And all of us have some kind of answer. We talk about love based on our feelings, our experiences, or what we’ve learned from others.

But what does The Bible have to say about it? And what does it mean, that “God is love”?

In this series, we will walk through the letter that contains those words: “God is love.” The book of 1 John talks more about love than any other New Testament letter. Join us, as we hear from “the disciple whom Jesus loved” and explore what love really is.

"God Is..."

"God Is..."

You are more than what you do. You are more than what others say about you. You are more than what you look like on the outside. And so is God.

But are we able to articulate who God is? We can recite what He’s done for us (He died on the cross!). We may say things like “God is love” or “God is holy” – but are we able to flesh out what they mean (lest they be misinterpreted by our hearers)?

In this series we will look at various attributes of God described in the Bible. By diving into these attributes we will discover - not only the One to whom we can pray - but who He is - for us.

Teach Us To Pray
Matthew Monte Matthew Monte

Teach Us To Pray

In Luke 11, Jesus’ disciples come to Him with a simple request: “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.” Unlike other places in the Gospels - where Jesus’ shrouds His teaching in parables or cryptic sayings - here Jesus gives a straightforward answer: “Pray then like this…”

While the resulting prayer - “The Lord’s Prayer” - is well known (it’s recited every Sunday in Worship, daily for many Christians, and is referenced in movies, music, and other media) - the depth of these words are often missed. This prayer has the power to transform your understanding of God, the world, and your place in it.

For the next 8 weeks we will dive into these life-changing words of Jesus. Join us as we echo the disciples’ plea to Jesus: “Lord, teach us to pray.”

Jesus Said

Now that we have read through the Gospel of Mark with our eyes on Jesus, we’re going to take one more pass through this Gospel in light of the initial words of Jesus to his disciples, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men” (Mark 1:17). There are three verbs in this sentence: follow, make, become. For the next three weeks, we will explore the Gospel of Mark one more time to see how this promise to Peter and Andrew are fulfilled in their lives, and how, ultimately they are fulfilled in our lives as well.

Lent 2024

During these 40 days of Lent, we will be spending our time studying the Gospel of Mark. From Wednesday evenings, to Sunday sermons, Sunday Bible class, and daily Bible readings, you will experience the Gospel of Mark in different ways. The Gospel of Mark is uniquely different from the other portrayals of Jesus told by Matthew, Luke, and John. Most specifically, Mark is unique in his intentional literary style. Most scholars agree that Mark wrote his telling of the Gospel story in a way that was to be spoken out loud to an audience. The Gospel of Mark moves quickly, his details of story are rich and vivid, and many of the verbs in the original Greek language are in the present tense - which demonstrates frenzied activity. Jesus is shown in the Gospel of Mark to be moving immediately from one city to another, from one situation to the next. Much of this narrative style does not come through when we sit and silently read to ourselves this Gospel in our modern English language. But, as you read, imagine that you are listening to this story being told by a storyteller. Listen, as the disciples and other characters are introduced to you. Hear, as Jesus speaks sternly to demons and calmly to troubled souls. Take note of the conflicts that Jesus and his enemies engage in. And finally, listen - Jesus is alive! Engage with every page of your journaling Bible during the study of Mark this Lent.

Wise Guys

From January 7th - February 11th, open your Bibles and be introduced to practical wisdom from Biblical people. The Bible is full of people who ordered their lives according to the ways of God and not always conforming to the ways of the world. In order to have true wisdom, our source has to be out of this world. In this series, we'll be studying the lives of these Biblical people and learning how the wisdom of God is much needed in our lives to guide us in this mixed up world.
